Eyob Tilahun Mengiste

Eyob is a doctoral candidate in the chair of Civil and Building systems, institute of Civil Engineering at the Technical University of Berlin. He received a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Jimma University, Ethiopia in 2008 with a great distinction and a master’s degree in Structural Engineering from Addis Ababa University in 2016. As a practicing engineer, he accomplished various engineering design and construction projects. Through his ten years of industry experience, he worked in projects spanning from the designs of RC structures to construction project management of complex industrial and infrastructure development projects. Moreover, Eyob has taught structural engineering in the Ethiopian Institute of Architecture, Building Construction and City Development for more than three years before he joins his current role at New York University in Abu Dhabi as an Instructor. His research interests are construction management, automation, computer vision and digital twins in construction. In his Ph.D. research, he is developing a robust and efficient method of automating construction progress monitoring using visual appearance detection of materials.
