Eyosias is a doctoral candidate in the chair of Civil and Building systems, institute of Civil Engineering at the Technische Universität Berlin. His PhD research is part of a European-wide research program called CBIM that focuses on cloud-enabled BIM. As part of this program, Eyosias is employed at Trimble Solutions, a software company based in Finland.
Eyosias received a BSc degree in civil engineering from Haramaya University, where he graduated with a gold medal. He did his postgraduate study in structural engineering at Addis Ababa University. Through his postgraduate research work, he demonstrated how local structural engineers could adopt and benefit from BIM in every step of their work. He investigated ways to integrate conventional structural software packages with a BIM package. For this purpose, he programmed eight tools. He has worked professionally as a structural engineer in a design firm where he was responsible for the design of various structures. Additionally, he worked as academic research assistance and part-time lecturer at two different universities.
His current research topic is data interoperability of building, GIS and city-scale data sources. He has selected building fire emergency as a use case to explore the topic. His research objectives include devising, implementing and testing a data integration method that allows data fusion and reuse of building, GIS and city-scale data sources so they can be used during building fire emergencies.
