SAFE-10-T
The SAFE-10-T Project which is funded by the European Union commenced on May 10 2017 with a kick-off meeting in Delft (Netherlands). Its goal is the safety of transport on the TEN-T network by deve- loping a safety framework for critical road, rail and inland waterway infrastructure. "The framework will use remote moni- toring data for tunnels, bridges and earthworks in conjunction with machine learning algorithms and traffic modelling tools to evaluate network safety perfor- mance due to extreme events" (GDG, Dublin).
The project is coordinated by GDG (Gavin & Doherty GeoSolutions, Dublin), who will also manage the consortium of scientists and experts participating the project.
The Department of Civil and Building Systems (TU Berlin) will work together with a multi-disciplinary consortium of civil engineers, computer scientists, big data managers and sociologists to provide an Online Decision Support Tool that will enable infrastructure managers to make cost-effective and robust decisions based on the therefore collected data. Furthermore the consortium will work collaboratively with infrasture managers from Network Rail, the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Enviroment of the Netherlands and Croatian Railways to face the challenges of an ever-changing enviroment. That will provide an increasing safety level for critical infrastructure networks and ensure reliable mobility networks for passengers and freight transport.
