Current status of the P2Endure project

Short Introduction into the project

P2Endure aims to provide scalable, adaptable and ready-to-implement prefabricated Plug-and-Play (PnP) systems for deep renovation of building envelopes and technical systems. These innovative solutions will be used to transform non-functioning or sub-optimal public and historic buildings into dwellings, and applicable for the widest range of building typologies, i.e. public buildings, residential buildings, and transformation projects. The main innovation of P2Endure comprises PnP prefab systems enabled by 3D printing, laser and thermal scanning integrated with Building Information Model (BIM). The promoted solutions are SME-driven and geared to rapid and low-disturbance on-site assembly processes for deep renovation. P2Endure presents a proof-of-performance of the optimized PnP renovation techniques by implementing 10 largescale and live demonstration projects that represent the main deep renovation typologies and real market demand in 4 EU geo-clusters.

Current status

After the P2Endure meetings in Warsaw/Poland (January 2017) and Odense/Denmark (March 2017), the consortium met last September in beautiful Genoa/Italy.

The venue provided a wide view of Genoa. Not in the picture: The fantastic coffee, provided by the P2Endure partner and host of the meeting D’Appolonia (part of RINA Group). Work can’t be better.

The aim of the meeting was to discuss the current status and the further steps of the individual project participants. The Department of Civil and Building Systems of the TU Berlin is mainly responsible for two work packages within the P2Endure project. On the one hand, the chair has the task to record and present the process sequences before, during and after a deep renovation project. The processes of the other P2Endure project participants deals the chair as a starting point for the modelling. By means of interviews, the individual process steps were recorded and evaluated. This showed a great diversity of processes within the respective renovation steps. Through an abstract presentation of the process steps, the chair creates 4 general models, which can be used as a guide for the renovation projects of the P2Endure partners (and for future users). Our models were presented in our first project report, which was handed over to the European Commission at the end of March 2017.

In the second major work package the chair is concerned with the software implementation of a parametric modeler as well as the implementation of an e-Marketplaces. The modeler allows the user to simulate the energetic values of the renovation project based on the selection of the desired components. The user can find and select these elements on the e-Marketplace. Based on the selection of the products, the parametric modeler can create a simulation of the resulting values. The results are then displayed to the user at the front end of the e-marketplaces. Figure 2 shows the front end of the e-Marketplaces with integrated parametric modeler. Using test data, we can already create a simulation of the energetic values and display the solutions.

During the meeting in Genoa the Chair presented its current prototype. At the end of September 2017, the chair handed over the current results to the European Commission. In the next steps, the test data are replaced by real data of the project participants.
