Jerson is a research assistant and doctoral candidate at the chair of Civil and Building Systems at the Institute for Civil Engineering at the Technical University Berlin. In 2019, he joined the BIM-SPEED (https://www.bim-speed.eu/en ) project team. His tasks in this project include the development of knowledge representations and a multi-criteria decision-making framework to support residential building renovation projects.
Jerson received his B.Sc. degree in Electric engineering from the Universidad Industrial de Santander, Colombia, in 2013. After two years of professional experiences in the industrial sector, he received a scholarship from the Sao Paulo Research Foundation to conduct a two-year research project at the University of Campinas, UNICAMP in Brazil, from where he obtained his M.Sc. degree in Electrical engineering in 2018.
Jerson is interested on sustainability in the building environment and urban areas. During his master studies he focused on the application of optimization techniques to improve the operation of smart buildings and their interaction with the energy distribution grid, especially in building clusters such as university campuses and residential districts.
Currently, Jerson is at the last year of his PhD. His research has focused on getting insights from the energy efficient renovation of residential buildings to develop a decision-making framework to support the participation of the diverse stakeholders involved in multiple scenarios, considering comprehensive objectives and criteria.
